The Law of Faith: Charles CappsGalatians 1:11-12, Paul said “the Gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.”Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”Always remember when you quote Scripture out of context you lose the intend of it. People say “the Bible says” it might be in the Bible, but it is not what the Bible says/not the intend of what was said. The intend is as important as the Scripture itself (like in Court of Law today).Romans 3:10 As it is written (is quoting an Old Testament Scripture): “There is none righteous, no, not one; 11 There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. 12 They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one.”Romans 3:19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law (quoting Old Testament Scripture). 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin”.The Law showed them that they could not keep the Law, they were unrighteous and spiritually dead. If you are spiritually alive you do not need the Law.The Law was given to man to prove that they could not keep the Law and to show them that they were unrighteous / non-righteous. Under the Law you had to keep them all to the letter to become righteous and no man could do that except Jesus – Jesus came to fulfill the Law. He walked upright and perfect for 30 years and then the Law passed away. We do not keep the letter of the Law (it kills). If you love your neighbor you would not kill or steal from him but we still keep the Spirit of the Law - that gives life), that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Romans 3:21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the Law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, (we all were sinners but not anymore since we became righteous through Jesus Christ.)Galatians 3: 8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” 9 So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.” 11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.” 12 Yet the law is not of faith, but “the man who does them shall live by them.” (There is no righteousness under the Law.)13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. (The Law has passed away.) Galatians 3:22 But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. 23 But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. 24 Therefore the law was our tutor /school master to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor/school master.”Some are trying to do good works to get into Heaven – there is only one way to Heaven and that is through Jesus Christ. You must be born-again – you got to be changed on the inside, no good work will get you into Heaven.Galatians 3:26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” The Law was given to prove to man that he was not righteous. Paul is teaching the righteousness of God Romans 3:21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the Law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, (we all were sinners but not anymore since we became righteous through Jesus Christ.)Unrighteous people under the Old Covenant but not for today – His righteousness is imputed upon us because we believe in Him, our righteousness is in Him – it is not our righteousness. Old Testament says our righteousness is like filthy rags.2 Corinthians 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him”.We cannot boast because we are born-again and the righteousness of God – as long you are in Christ, you are the righteousness of God. But when you get out of Christ, you are not the righteousness of God.John made it so clear – he said God has given us eternal life, eternal life is in the Person of Jesus Christ. If you have the Son, you have life.Romans 3:27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law. 29 Or is He the God of the Jews only? Is He not also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also, 30 since there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith. 31 Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law.” He is talking about the law of the New Covenant (not the Old) – the new law is based on better promises.People do not understand when saying “I’m an old sinner saved by Grace”. The Bible says you’ve become the righteousness of God in Christ - 2 Corinthians 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him”. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, (God is not holding it against us, He has cancelled them). 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him”.You may not l
